An orthodontist has not
only completed college courses followed by four years of dental education,
but he or she has also successfully completed an American Dental Association
approved graduate orthodontic program. This program includes subjects
related to the biomechanics of tooth movement, and also deals with the
science of growth and development and its effects on the jaws and teeth. An
orthodontist is a specialist. He or she concentrates on orthodontics
exclusively. That's a good thing when you consider that orthodontics makes
permanent changes not only in the teeth, but often in facial appearance as
well.
| Dr. Carolyn Melita
graduated #1 from the University of Buffalo Dental
School. She completed the orthodontic specialty program at the
University of Connecticut with honors and has been with Belmont
Orthodontics since 1989. She attends post-graduate orthodontic courses
each year in order to provide her patients with a broad spectrum of
state-of-the-art orthodontic services. The warmth of her personality,
her caring nature and her supportive explanations of orthodontic
procedures are calming to apprehensive patients of all ages. She
exemplifies our philosophy of competence and caring.
Dr. Morton Speck
continues to enjoy his association with the
practice as consulting orthodontist. In addition to patient care, he
maintains his teaching position at the Harvard Dental School Graduate
Orthodontic Program. |
